some examples of the services we offer
Rats
Rats are one of the most serious pests as they can spread harmful diseases,
contaminate human food and damage people’s property. Every suspected Rat pest control enquiry we receive will start with an inspection of your property.
Once we confirm there is a rat issue, and the estimated size of the problem will undertake to proof the property this will be achieved by blocking all suspected entry points with door seals, wire wool and expanding foam as required. An inspection in and around your drains may be required. We may place traps around the property and if the infestation is severe, poison bait in secure boxes might also be used.
A follow up visit/s will be arranged to ensure the issue is under control. We will provide you useful advice about preventing future rat infestations.
Mice
Every suspected mouse pest control enquiry we receive will start with an inspection of your property. Once we confirm there is a mouse issue, and the estimated size of the problem will undertake to block all suspected entry points with wire wool and expanding foam as required.
Our technician will then place baits and traps in strategic places where mice are most likely to pass through. We will then arrange a follow up visit to ensure the issue is under control. We will provide you useful advice about preventing future mice infestations.
Wasps
You should book an inspection for the nest because it is not uncommon to mistake bees for wasps. If it is confirmed that it is a bee nest, we will assist you in contacting a local beekeeper to remove the nest safely.
You should not try and remove any Bee or Wasp nest from your property yourself. Pest controllers are trained with the right skills to handle and removal of the nest safely. We will usually use an extendable wand (up to 7m) and a special insecticide powder. The treatment is usually just for a single visit. If the wasp nest is accessible, you can arrange an additional visit to have the nest removed.
Ants
Ant treatments usually require 1 visit by a pest controller but could require further visits due to environmental conditions. During the session, the technician will inspect the property to determine the severity of the ant infestation.
The Common Black Ant is the most common ant, and an invasion of these pests can be tricky to deal with. Treatment will be carried on all existing nests, as well as ceilings, floors and other areas of a property as required. Following the initial inspection and confirmation of the ant species we will spray and apply a special gel in the affected areas. Treatment using bait is a good method for ant control. The Ants passing through these spots will carry the gel to the nest where it will eliminate the whole colony.
The insecticides applied should work for 5 days. The residents should not vacuum or clean the treated areas for this 5-day period. Additionally, the Pest Controller will advise you on how to prevent future re-infestations.
Bed bugs
Bed Bugs are probably the pest that creates the most stress, anxiety, and disruption to their hosts. Once eradicated in the UK the Bed Bug seems to have a revival over the last few years due to an increase in Worldwide travel and importation of goods. Renowed hitchikers Bed Bugs can get everywhere and can lay dormant for weeks. Bed Bugs are incorrectly associated with dirty or rundown premises but Bed Bugs will live anywhere from 5 star hotels to hostels, mansions to bedsits, aeroplanes to public transport
vehicles.
Once you have Bed Bugs it is virtually impossible to get rid of them without the assistance of a professional pest controller. If you can identify a Bed Bug infestation early, it will reduce the stress and the cost of the treatment will be less expensive. Bed Bugs are approximately 5mm in size and look a bit like a flat Ladybird. They often hide in mattresses, bed frames, bed heads, other furniture, electrical fittings and appliances, underneath carpet edges and skirting. The bite of a Bed Bug is not dangerous to most people, some people can be bit over a long period of time and not get the slightest reaction while some people can be quite badly affected.
Tell-tale signs to look out for:
– The insects themselves in or around your bed area
– Bites – Can be in a straight line often called “Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner” but can also be like a rash
– Blood smears on your bedding
– Distinctive, musty, almond-like smell
If you believe your property is displaying symptoms of an infestation Call Jack Pest Control Services. We will provide an inspection of the property confirm the severity of the infestation and discuss a treatment programme.
Once the treatment plan is agreed you will be asked to undertake several tasks to support the treatment including vacuuming and washing any soft furnishings or clothing you suspect could be infested. This will ensure our treatment is as effective and successful as possible.
The treatment should take 2 visits, 2 weeks apart. We will use insecticides on the two visits to ensure a complete bed bug removal. We also offer a heat treatment as a method to get rid of the bugs. After both treatment appointments we will ask you complete a few tasks that will support the
effectiveness of the treatment.
Cockroaches
These pests are highly adaptable and can be found anywhere in your house. They are usually seen near drains and sinks, among other places that provide the ideal conditions to survive. Known to be nocturnal, cockroaches tend to hide away in crevices during the day. As they are more active during the night it can make it difficult to know whether you’ve been invaded! Seeing even one cockroach either alive or dead, either an adult or a baby, means there are many more.
Don’t feel relief just because you’ve only seen one and killed it. There could be many more! Signs that you could have a cockroach problem are discarded egg casings. These can vary between the different types of cockroaches but are capsule like in appearance. Also, as they grow, cockroaches also shed their skin several times before reaching adulthood, and these are also visual signs that you might have an unwanted population of cockroaches in your property. You should not try and undertake Cockroach control yourself as it can be complicated, and the pests are extremely difficult to get rid of thanks to their breeding process and hiding places.
We will determine the extent of the infestation by locating and monitoring the insect hot spots using traps. Ideally nightly assessments should be carried out, as this is when the pest is likely to be most active. Dependent on the level of infestation We will start the treatment by applying bait gel in the affected areas. This is where we have identified the insects go to seek food and shelter. In cases of extremely severe cockroach infestations areas may be sprayed with a special insecticide that will target the eggs and young cockroaches.
Once under control the treatment will focus on the adults usually using traps and lures which trap the insects. The cockroaches become trapped and release pheromones that attract more cockroaches. Several visits may be required in order to control a Cockroach infestation.
